Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday that commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492, For many, the holiday is a way of both honouring Columbus’ achievements and celebrating Italian-American heritage. But throughout its history, Columbus Day and the man who inspired it have generated controversy, and many alternatives to the holiday have proposed since the 1970s  This is the Italian-Americans marking the day in New York, 2019.

The High Line is a public park built on an oldfreight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan's one time meat packing district. Saved from demolition the High Line opened in 2009 as a public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design.

Coney Island is a peninsular neighbourhood and entertainment area south west of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. I visited out of season and was reminiscent of British seaside resorts out of season.
